Position Summary:
Under supervision, this position is responsible for responding to and/or resolving employee benefit issues, processing and maintenance of benefits information, communicating with insurance vendors regarding eligibility and other issues, and administering the Company?s leaves of absence programs
Key Responsibilities:
Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Benefits Administrator is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.
?? Administer and maintain Company?s Leaves of Absence programs (FMLA and non-FMLA) by providing program information to employees and managers, determining eligibility, and ensuring required leave documentation is prepared, received, recorded, and communicated to employees and appropriate personnel.
?? Approve documentation, calculate hours and type of pay during term of leave, submit necessary Payroll Action Request forms, and coordinate pay changes for employees on various leaves of absence through their return to work. Track and coordinate the payment of benefit premiums during leave of absence.
?? Advise and counsel employees on benefit related issues including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending, disability, employee assistance, COBRA and other related programs.
?? Resolve employee issues in a timely manner through vendor management and acting as an employee advocate when issues are not properly handled.
?? Assist in complex employee claims resolution and eligibility/enrollment issues. Interpret plan procedures and policies based on established plan provisions.
?? Conduct benefits orientation sessions in-person and through web-based conferencing. Revise and improve orientation communication materials.
?? Manage vendor premium payments and reconcile with payroll system.
?? Reconcile General Ledger liability accounts for health and welfare benefits.
?? Coordinate with COBRA Administration vendor to ensure accurate and timely processing of COBRA eligibility and compliance with all COBRA regulations, assist COBRA participants with issues as needed, and coordinate payroll tax credits for COBRA subsidy.
?? Assist with open enrollment process by ensuring accuracy of employee communication materials, facilitating open enrollment meetings, developing information packets, and ensuring employee choices are properly recorded with vendors and payroll/HRIS.
?? Provide day to day oversight and training for the Benefits Assistant.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
Education
?? Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience STRONGLY preferred; but not required
Experience
?? Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive experience in human resources with an emphasis on benefits administration especially in the area of leaves of absence administration
