Description
Essential Functions:
Prioritizes and expedite the daily flow of patients to be seen by the physician. This includes:
Assists with clinical procedures, facilitating the flow of patients through the clinic
Reviews patient medical record for required test results prior to patient's visit with physician; investigates any tests not accounted for prior to that visit.
Performs routine laboratory tests such as TB testing.
Performs patient venipuncture utilizing vaccutainer tubes and sleeves as well as syringes and butterfly needles per OSHA policies and office standards. Administers injections and instructs patients in proper technique for self administration
Maintains the quality control procedures and OSHA requirements as well as documentation for the following areas: infusion room, medication refrigerator, monthly review of medicine cabinet and review of Remicade inventory, orders the same in a cost effective manner.
Prioritizes physician telephone messages throughout the working day so as to expedite patient calls as well as physician time in answering them. Return messages promptly in a time effective and professional manner.
Maintains the clinic supply ordering, inventory, and cleanliness of each patient exam room and infusion room throughout the course of the working day. This includes responsibility for: Stocks exam rooms with supplies daily and follows OSHA cleaning guidelines for exam and infusion rooms.
Communicates with patients in a competent and professional manner to include conversations in person, via mail, and over the telephone.
Addresses routine patient concerns and calls prescriptions as requested
Assists to answer the clinic telephone and in the scheduling of patient appointments
Utilizes computer to effectively look up patient demographic information, schedules appointments and enters data into file maintenance programs.
Completes the following records preparation, documentation, and maintenance functions:
Scans lab, x-ray, and other results including patient correspondence appropriately in the patient chart
Provides physician with daily incoming results for review and signature
Completes patient medical forms such as FLMA, disability, EMPI and the like as follows:
Copy the form so an additional blank form is available Reference patient chart for previous form to use as a guideline in completion Complete those form areas not subject to physician input and interpretation
Assists in other job duties and shares responsibility for overall clinic operation in the absence of other team members.
Needs to comply with the clinic policies and procedures regarding PHI (protected health information). Must also have knowledge of and familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirement and adherence to the same in performance of job duties.
